Ready to get started?
We believe that great psychological evaluations can be transformational.
Some psychologists complete clinical interviews in one sitting, causing some to wonder whether their concerns were fully heard. At Alaska Telepsychology, we take the time needed to understand referral questions, to work with patients to document their history and symptoms accurately, and to explain test results, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations in plain language.
We favor a multidisciplinary approach, and, when possible, incorporate information from primary care providers, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, and school districts. Our goal is to capture your full picture, not just a snapshot from our office.
Because accurate diagnoses depend on an accurate history, we involve patients in report writing. You will review a draft of your background to check for accuracy and suggest edits, and you will review the evaluation and give feedback before your report is finalized.
We tailor evaluations to the person in front of us. Rather than running a standard battery of tests on repeat, we select only measures relevant to your specific concerns and we adjust the time we spend with you accordingly.
We believe the evaluation process itself can be therapeutic. Throughout testing, we explain what we are seeing, walk through diagnoses and differential diagnoses, and help you understand the "why" behind your own behavior and experiences. We welcome questions and take the time to answer them.
Our reports are written in plain language. We explain your history, standardized test results, and diagnoses, then present concrete recommendations that are actionable in your rural or urban community. With your signed consent to collaborate care, we send final reports directly to your providers.
We bring optimism, energy, and authentic connection to psychological testing. We commit to helping patients make a meaningful three-degree course correction to become their best selves.
If you are a dog person, our therapy dog in training can join the session as well!

Yes. We typically schedule appointments over about three weeks. We tailor each evaluation to the individual. We take time to understand each person’s concerns and give only the tests that address them. Spreading appointments over time makes the process easier. Shorter sessions reduce fatigue and better capture each person’s true abilities. Patients and parents can also relax, knowing they will have a chance to share forgotten details or concerns at the next visit.
-
With your consent, we interview people who know the patient well, such as parents, partners, and friends. We also gather input from medical providers, therapists, and teachers. Each person sees the patient in a different setting, and together their perspectives help us build a more accurate understanding. Our report reflects the whole picture, not just a snapshot from the testing room.
-
Patients and families stay involved from start to finish. You review the background section of the report and help correct any errors. As testing moves along, your psychologist explains the results, so nothing comes as a surprise at the end. We welcome your questions and answer them at every step.
-
Yes! We write every section in plain language and avoid unnecessary jargon. We explain what each test measures and what the results mean for daily life. If we make a diagnosis, we explain why the patient meets the criteria. If we do not, we explain that too. Our recommendations are concrete and practical, so you can act on them in your own community, whether urban or rural. Your psychologist reviews the final report with you, so you can ask questions about anything that is unclear.
-
You do. We write each report for patients and families. Our reports explain each patient’s history, strengths, and challenges, and lay out practical next steps. With your signed consent, we also send the report to others involved in the patient’s care, such as medical providers, therapists, schools, or the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Talking about challenges can feel discouraging at times. Some tests also get harder as they go, so everyone reaches questions they cannot answer, which can be frustrating. These feelings are normal and expected. By the end of evaluations, most people say they feel heard, seen, and understood, and many appreciate having their challenges organized and explained in a new way. People typically leave feeling optimistic, with concrete recommendations to improve their daily life. We believe testing can be a turning point that helps people move forward.
